John Calvin’s Geneva (1509–1564) was globally recognized as a hub for theological training and pastor commissioning. In addition to academic work, Geneva’s printing presses operated continuously, producing a wide range of theological materials that nourished numerous churches across Europe and beyond. Even Brazil directly benefited from the efforts of the French Reformer. Thus, Geneva became a training ground for ministers and a beacon of light in the midst of darkness.
The Tropical Geneva Fund was established alongside RTS with the purpose of financially supporting the seminary’s various initiatives, making it a kind of “Geneva of the Tropics” in the 21st century. Through the voluntary contributions of brothers and sisters from around the world, this fund will enable:
- Providing scholarships for Pastoral Course applicants who may not have the means to afford the program.
- Publishing books and editorial materials relevant to students’ theological education.
- Sponsoring events, lectures, conferences, and other academic and theological activities.
- Funding the purchase of books, equipment, and other essential resources for RTS.
- Facilitating the exchange of professors and pastors, both nationally and internationally.
- Subsidizing the seminary’s operational expenses in order to keep its activities running at full capacity.
- Sending RTS graduates into the ministry field.
It is important to note that all contributions to the Tropical Geneva Fund are managed and approved by the RTS Board, ensuring faithful stewardship of these resources.
